Progressive Education

Public education has existed in various shapes and forms, since the late 1800s. Have you ever considered how much it has changed? While I don’t have video from that era, this footage is from the 1940s. Do you see any similarities?

I’m reminded of Thomas Jefferson’s letter to Samuel Kercheval, “…institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths disclosed, and manners and opinions change with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also, and keep pace with the times…”

Where are we today with the most important of institutions?
